MALTAgen Forschung GmbH is an independent biotech company founded in 1994 in Andernach, Germany. Maltagen is a world-leader in barley transformation research (http://www.maltagen.com), and was founded as a research subsidiary of a leading manufacturer in the malting industry with more than 140 years of barley expertise. Hans-Georg Sarx—Chairman of MALTAGEN—studied brewing technology at the Berlin University of Technology. He obtained his commercial education at several institutes and universities in Hamburg, Paris, Boston and New York City. Hans-Georg gained work experience with several international companies such as A.C.Toepfer, Bunge and Anheuser Bush. In 1970, he joined Friedrich Weissheimer Malzfabrik, a leading international malting group, as technical manager. Hans-Georg has been managing partner of the company since 1978, responsible for production, export and research & development. He has held several honourary posts such as president of Euromalt; member of the advisory board of the Berlin University of Technology (VLB); member of the advisory board of the Brewing Research Institute in Nutfield (BRI), and member of the advisory board of a section of the Deutsche Bank. |
